In Japan, the number of cities with bike lanes has been increasing nowadays. However, sometimes these bike lanes are not as safe as we thought it is. Cars sometimes cross over the lines and cause an accident. So, some cities have started building walls and other barriers around these lanes to prevent accidents from happening. Although it can leave less room for cars, it is much safer for people who ride bikes and use the bike lanes.

Let's Discuss Template

Task 1

Question 1

Some people say that a person should have a license to ride a bicycle. What do you think about that?

Sample Answers:

• Agree - I agree. People on bicycles use the same roads that people in cars do. Having a license would make sure people ride safely and so there would be fewer accidents.

• Disagree - I disagree. Many people who ride bikes are too young to get licenses. Also, bikes are less likely to cause serious damage than cars.

EIKEN Answer Tips 💡

📌 In addition to the example, the opinion in favor would be that in order to get a license, people would need to know the traffic rules of their country. Having a license would also encourage people to ride more safely.

📌 To show your opposition to the statement or topic, you can point out the huge number of applicants and the difficulty of the license renewal system as an additional information to the sample answer given.

Question 2

Electric cars are becoming popular worldwide. Do you think more people will buy electric cars in the future?

Sample Answers:

• YES - People want to help the environment, and electric cars are a good option. They produce little air pollution and greenhouse gases.

• NO - As electric cars are expensive, most people would rather buy an inexpensive gasoline-powered car. Also, it's hard to find places to charge an electric car.

EIKEN Answer Tips 💡

📌 If you answer YES to the question, you can add an information and note that e-vehicles or electric vehicles produce less sounds and are less vibration-prone compared to gasoline-powered vehicles.

📌 If you answer NO to the question, you can point out that charging an electric car takes longer compared to refilling it with gasoline.
