Mia | Maya

Situation:

Two friends, Mia and Maya, share their thoughts about hiking.

Icon_8

Mia

I really enjoy hiking, though the steeper trails can be pretty tough for me, especially when I haven't trained properly.

Icon_11

Maya

I get that. I find long hikes in the heat to be exhausting, just as you struggle with the steep parts. By the time I reach the halfway point, I'm usually wiped out.

Icon_8

Mia

That’s true. But I think we both agree that the views make it all worthwhile. The moment we reach the top and take in the whole panoramic view is incredible, notably when the weather is clear.

Icon_11

Maya

Absolutely. You enjoy stopping to take photos and soak it all in, whereas I tend to keep moving and focus on reaching the summit as quickly as possible.

Icon_8

Mia

That makes sense. Equally, the feeling of accomplishment when we finally make it to the top is something we both share. It doesn’t matter how long it took to get there—it’s always worth it.

Icon_11

Maya

Exactly. I’ve started packing extra gear, even if the forecast looks clear, owing to how quickly the weather can change in the mountains.

Icon_8

Mia

Yeah, that’s smart. The weather can change rapidly, hence I make sure to carry a jacket and some extra snacks. I learned that the hard way when we got caught in a downpour last time.

Icon_11

Maya

I remember that! I wasn’t prepared for the rain at all. Now, I always have an emergency poncho with me.

Icon_8

Mia

Good call. I’d rather over-prepare than end up stuck out there without what I need.
