LET'S UNDERSTAND! 📚
Be like and Look like
1. Use the questions, "What is...like?" and "What does...look like?" to find out about a person's physical appearance.
Examples:
He has dark hair and blue eyes.
What is Wolverine like?
He is good-looking.
2. We can also use the question What is...like? to find out about a person's character.
Examples:
What's your grandfather like?
He is still very strong. He can see and hear very well.
3. We can also use like with the question word Who to mean "similar to".

Rio de Janeiro is like Buenos Aires. ( = Rio is similar to Buenos Aires.)
Examples:
Who is Julie like? - her father or her mother?
She's like her mother ( = She is similar to her mother.)
4. Use the question What is / was it like? to ask for a description of the weather, a book, a film, a place, or an event.
Examples:
What was the weather like yesterday?
It was really hot.
What's Tokyo City like?
It's very big and busy.
What was the baseball match like?
It was great!

The word like in What's he like? is a preposition NOT a verb.

Here is an example of like used as a verb:

She likes rock music.
5. We usually use How...?, not What...like? when we ask about someone's health or temporary situations.
Examples:
How's your brother today?
He's feeling much better.
How was your boss today?
He was very friendly today!
6. Other verbs similar to look like include feel like, smell like, sound like, and taste like.
Examples:
What does the fur coat feel like?
It feels so soft.
What do peaches taste like?
They taste sour.
What does the harp sound like?
It sounds gentle.
What does the perfume smell like?
It smells like vanilla.

Generally, we don't include the word like in the answers to these questions.
