2024-EIKEN-Speaking Lesson 3

Answer:

Sample Answer:

One day, a man was arriving home after a hectic day at work. He looked very tired while he was telling his wife that he was under a lot of stress because of his job. His wife looked quite worried about her husband’s condition. That night, the man and his wife were watching a program on TV which was showing some ways to relieve people’s stress. The woman told her husband to try cooking. He seemed to agree with this idea. The next day, the man was cooking a big meal and served it to his wife. The food the man made looked very delicious and his wife seemed very excited about tasting it. Later that evening, the man and the woman had already finished eating dinner. The woman was in the kitchen staring at the mess her husband had made there while her husband is relaxingly watching TV in the living room.

Part 2: Question and Answer

LETS DISCUSS TEMPLATE EIKEN GRADE PRE-1

Question 1

Please look at the picture. If you were the woman, what would you be thinking?

Sample Answers:

I’d be thinking, “It seems like cooking dinner was helpful in reducing my husband’s stress, so I’ll just tidy everything up and not dwell too much about the big mess he made in the kitchen.”

EIKEN Answer Tips 💡

📌 When answering this question, you can say that since the wife was the one who suggested cooking, she should have expected the big mess, but since doing so seems to have helped her husband ease his stress, she shouldn’t ask him to help wash the dishes.

📌 You can also express your feelings saying “I’ll ask him next time to help me with the dishes.” Or you can also express a feeling of regret by saying “I should have suggested yoga”.

Question 2

Do you think people should pay more attention to their family and spend more time with them?

Sample Answers:

Yes. Spending time with your family helps you talk about problems you’ve been carrying. Talking about these reduces the weight of the load you are carrying every day, considering how stressful life is these days. It is important to have a strong relationship with your family for your mental health.

EIKEN Answer Tips 💡

📌 If you answer YES to this question, you can talk about the benefit of spending quality time with the family to a person’s mental health. You can also mention the importance of having a strong relationship with your family.

Question 3

Should people consume more foods that are grown locally?

Sample Answers:

No. Although eating foods that are locally grown is good for the environment, it can be hard for people to get the right and enough nutrition their body needs. This can be true for people living in the northern areas. It might be difficult to get fresh vegetables during winter.

EIKEN Answer Tips 💡

📌 If you believe that the answer is NO, be firm with your stand and state some reasons why you oppose to this idea. It would also be better if you can cite concrete examples as to why people should not consume locally-grown foods.

Question 4

Are there enough child-care facilities for employees provided by their respective companies?

Sample Answers:

No. I don’t think there are enough day-care centers in many areas. Day care is very important for people who want to continue pursuing their careers after giving birth, so companies should support them by providing day-care facilities.

EIKEN Answer Tips 💡

📌 If you answer NO to this question, you can talk about how necessary and important it is for parents who wish to continue working to have childcare facilities to support them.

📌 If you answer YES, you may suggest that companies provide support in terms of salary and male childcare leave rather than providing childcare facilities.
