LISTENING MUSIC


A. MP3 noun

  • a popular type of audio file that you can listen to the files on a computer or mobile device.

    Example:

  • There are still some people using MP3 players despite the popularity of streaming services.

B. album noun

  • a collection of recordings issued as a single item on CD, record, or another medium

    Example:

  • Their new album features remixes of some of their previous hits.

C. track noun

  • one song or piece of music from an album

    Example:

D. playlist noun

  • a list of songs that can be played in sequential or shuffled order

    Example:

  • I've made a playlist with ten of my favorite songs from ONE OK ROCK.

E. sync noun

  • or more formally - synchronise; to have exactly the same files and data on more than one device

    Example:

  • The soundtrack is not in sync with the picture.

F. stream verb

  • play music in real time from one source to another

    Example:

  • You can stream music from multiple devices with this app.

I've been listening to some songs from the new by the MASTERS. It's great. I downloaded the files to my playlist on my phone, so I've got them in both places. I just got six , not the whole thing.

Oh, right. I download music files but then I forget to them with my phone, so I don't have them when I travel! But I can them from the computer in my study to the audio system in the living room, so I do get to listen to them. I've made some good with my favorite tracks.

Types of Music and Musicians

A. classical adjective

  • music written in a formal Western musical tradition with lasting value

    Example:

  • She listens to classical music by Bach or Mozart for relaxation.

B. folk noun

  • music that originates in traditional culture, passed down through families and other social groups

    Example:

  • Their performance used a tune based on South African folk music played on traditional instruments.

C. jazz noun

  • developed by African-Americans with strong rhythms and expressions of love, desire, excitement, hope, energy and joy.

    Example:

  • The restaurant is one of the few venues for jazz music in the area.

D. R&B noun

  • Rhythm and Blues, originally a black American form of blues music with a strong rhythm

    Example:

  • Youngsters like to listen to R&B music from artists such as Usher, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, and more.

E. hip-hop noun

  • a style of popular music where the words and spoken rather than sung; involves a larger artistic and cultural movement

    Example:

  • Hip-hop music is now dominating the country and is widely used in dance competitions.

F. rap noun

  • the words spoken in hip-hop music (can aslo be a verb)

    Example:

  • Rap music continues to dominate the mainstream music industry with artists such as Drake, Kanye West, and Megan Thee Stallion becoming more and more popular.

G. soundtrack noun

  • music from a film or TV show

    Example:

  • She composed the soundtracks to several hit movies.

H. lead singer noun

  • the main singer in a musical group

    Example:

  • The tour was postponed when the lead singer lost his voice.

I. lead guitarist noun

  • a person who plays lead guitar in a rock or pop band

    Example:

  • He is the world's famous lead guitarist.

J. keyboard player noun

  • a person who plays a keyboard instrument, esp an electronic musical instrument

    Example:

  • The keyboard player obviously cares about advancing the career of the band.

K. drummer noun

  • a person who plays a drum or drums.

    Example:

  • He was a drummer in a rock band.
