And so that means, / the real currency of a culture / is inclusiveness. // And that, / I think is / the core job / of what leaders do, / and what is the everyday experience / of what happens at Microsoft. // Interesting enough, / I've also come to recognize / that first level manager, / has probably the most influence / on what happens. // And so, / I distinctly remember as a lead at Microsoft / with five people working for me, / who all were thinking, / why is this guy leading us, / right? / I mean, / it's always the case, / because the first level job is the hardest job / because there are five people who are also just recent graduates / who are sort of looking at you and saying, / "I can do what you do." // And then / you have a boss who's asking you to do many things. //And so it's sort of real pressure cooker, / in the sense you / sort of really have to do a lot, / but that's when / your attitude / your nurturing of that five people who are working for you / around inclusiveness, / will matter a lot. // So one of the things that we are doubling down is, / are we truly supporting / managers at all levels, / to be able / to sort of / in fact support their team / so that they can bring the best out of them, / and then have them feel included / as part of the company. //
